5. ABILITIES
In this demo you have 4 allied soldiers at your disposal. These soldiers are stranded deep within enemy territory. The full game is split into 6 campaigns, each mission being connected by a strong storyline. In this demo you can play the first 2 missions from the first campaign. Each soldier can be controlled seperately. To change between your men simply hit the TAB key. If you leave your soldier without giving him any commands his AI will take over and he will react in accordance to his surroundings, if under attack, he will return fire etc You can issue your commands in two ways: 1. Game commands. Keys 1-5 Follow me ! Soldiers follow you, covering each other Stop ! Soldiers stop and guard the area Move on ! Soldiers run forward Hey ! If your soldier strays into your firing line he will move aside Hold fire ! No one fire until ordered Commands are heard by all soldiers in view. 2. Map mode. Switch to map mode by pressing the SPACE key. In the map mode the game timer stops, you will then have the option to individually program orders to your squad. This mode is particually useful for your tactical planning and overall strategy. The currently selected player will be highlighted by red circle. You can use the action icons on the left side of the screen in order to issue commands to your troops. To return to the game, press the SPACE bar. Upon returning, your instructions will be executed by the troops. It really depends on the player which way you choose to play H&D, all out action or strategically. Use the map more often to be carefull. As the game progresses, more thought and strategic planning will be necessary in order to complete your given missions. Remember, the more troops you loose at the beginning of the campaign, the more difficult it will become to complete it.
Tactical planning and thought will be the key to seeing your troops safely though the missions. The first missions in the game are relatively easy, you do not need to use the map quite as much as you will in subsequent missions.
